The Steam Engine Idea. May 12th, 2005

The steam engine from May 12th 2005 is one of my favorites. It was voted a 4.00 with 17 votes at Comic Sherpa. When I was younger, my dad would let me bring home a functioning steam engine from his lab at the school where he taught. The steam, whistle, etc. was fascinating. The wooden toy beneath the strip is one of several I have made, illustrating mainly my own fascination with mechanical gadgets. Perhaps that is where Newton's imagination and ideas merge with my own. I love the whole series where the guys are watching TV. The big bug eyes in the "nature program" strip are my very favorite. I also really enjoyed watching Copernicus learn about "reality TV." I love Newton's explanation of so-called "reality" shows--they really are just like he describes them. One thing--there's little uncolored spot between Newton's ears in that strip. No big deal, but if you wanted to fix it, you could.--Kate

Well, the stupid computer won't let me vote, but I would give a 5 if I could. I love the panel when Lucky has his hands on his hips--that's so cute!

I don't know why Kate gets to make all the comments!

I'm still reading them....when I miss a day I go back! Keep up the good work, JohnBoy! Glad you could work entomology into your strip. Ha ha ha.
